BWI Meet and Greet — How It Really Works

A lot of car services say they offer "meet and greet" and then text you "I'm at the curb" while you're still circling baggage claim looking for your suitcase. That's not meet and greet — that's a curbside pickup with extra steps.

Real meet and greet at Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) means your chauffeur is standing inside the terminal, in the public greeting area just outside baggage claim, holding a sign with your name, ready to take your bag off your shoulder the moment you walk out. Here's exactly how we do it.

The Walk-Through, Step by Step

1. Before your flight lands. We're tracking it. The moment your aircraft pushes back from the origin gate, we put your chauffeur in motion. They arrive at BWI roughly 20–30 minutes before your scheduled landing.

2. They park in the cell phone lot, then walk in. BWI has a free cell phone lot just south of the terminal where chauffeurs can wait. When your flight is on final approach, they roll over to the curb, park briefly, and walk into the terminal.

3. They wait at your baggage claim carousel. Inside the terminal, just outside the secure area, BWI has open greeter spaces near each baggage claim carousel. Your chauffeur stands there with a printed sign that has your name on it, big enough to spot from across the room.

4. You exit the secure area and see the sign. No phone calls, no apps, no "are you here yet?" texts. Just walk out and look for your name.

5. They take your bags. Suitcase, golf clubs, ski equipment, baby gear — whatever you're carrying, they handle it from there. You walk together to the vehicle.

6. The car is staged on the lower-level Arrivals curb. They've moved it from the cell phone lot to the commercial vehicle lane during your walk through baggage claim, so it's waiting when you arrive at the door.

7. Door is opened, bags loaded, water offered. And you're rolling.

Total time from your foot hitting the jet bridge to your bag in the trunk: usually 8–14 minutes for a domestic flight, depending on how fast your bags come out.

Who Books Meet and Greet vs. Standard Curbside

Standard curbside pickup works fine for:

  • Regular travelers who know BWI
  • Carry-on-only flights
  • Anyone who doesn't mind walking outside to find their car
  • Budget-conscious bookings

Meet and greet is worth the small upgrade for:

  • First-time visitors to the area who don't know BWI's layout
  • International arrivals coming through customs at Concourse E (which has its own logistics)
  • Elderly parents or family members who need a hand with bags
  • VIPs and executives for whom every minute and every impression matters
  • Children flying as unaccompanied minors (we coordinate with the airline gate agent for handoff)
  • Anyone with a tight connection or large luggage load

What Meet and Greet Costs

We charge a modest flat add-on for meet and greet on top of the quoted ride rate. That covers the chauffeur's time inside the terminal, the printed sign, and the curb-to-curb luggage handling. It is not metered. It does not change based on flight delay or wait time.

For comparison: many premium-brand services charge considerably more for the same service. Add meet and greet to your quote at the time of booking or by calling 877-609-1919.

How It Works for International Arrivals

International arrivals at BWI come through Concourse E and clear customs there. The customs hall has its own greeter area. We position our chauffeur in the area just past customs exit, with the same name placard. Wait time through customs varies wildly — Global Entry takes 3 minutes, standard non-citizen processing can take 60 minutes. We include 60 minutes of complimentary wait time for international arrivals (vs. 45 for domestic) at no extra charge.

If you're an international traveler arriving for the first time, you can read more in our BWI Airport Transportation Guide.

Sign Customization

If you want the sign to say something other than your last name — "Smith Family," "Acme Corp," your company logo, or a foreign-language version — just tell us at booking. We print on heavy white card and use large, readable type. Foreign-language placards are common; we've done Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, French, and Russian.

Tipping

Meet and greet is included in our flat rate, but customers who want to tip the chauffeur for the extra hand often add 15–20%. Completely optional, but appreciated by drivers.

Common Questions

Can my chauffeur meet me at the gate? No. TSA rules don't allow non-passengers past security. The closest we get is the public greeter area just outside the secure exit at baggage claim. We've never had a customer who couldn't find their chauffeur there.

What if my flight is rerouted? We track every flight to its final landing airport. If you're rerouted to DCA or IAD, we'll meet you there instead — call dispatch at 877-609-1919 so we can confirm logistics.

What if I just want curbside, not meet and greet? Totally fine. Most of our pickups are curbside. Standard, no surcharge.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is meet and greet service at BWI Airport?

Meet and greet means your chauffeur waits inside the terminal at baggage claim with a printed sign bearing your name, then walks with you to the vehicle, handling your luggage along the way. It is different from a standard curbside pickup, where you exit the terminal yourself and find the car at the curb.

How much does BWI meet and greet cost?

BWI Chauffeur charges a modest flat add-on for meet and greet, on top of your quoted ride rate. It includes the chauffeur's time inside the terminal, the printed sign, and luggage handling from baggage claim to the vehicle.

Can my chauffeur meet me at the gate?

No. TSA security rules do not permit non-passengers past the secure area. Your chauffeur will be waiting in the public greeter area just outside baggage claim, holding a sign with your name. This is as close as any car service can legally get.

How long is the wait time included with meet and greet?

We include 45 minutes of complimentary wait time for domestic flights and 60 minutes for international arrivals (which factors in customs and immigration processing). Additional wait time is rare but reasonable beyond that.

Can you provide child car seats?

Yes. Infant, convertible and booster seats are available on request — tell us the child's age when you book and the seat is installed before the vehicle arrives.
